Who says girls don't look beautiful with beards?! Such a matriarch. The bond continues with this pair. Can't help thinking the Ria cuddles will go to her kids once they are born but Sprog seems to know the kids are in there and loves being with her just now. He could be out on the grazings, doing his rock climbing thing but is sitting with her instead. Also I think he doesn't trust another rain shower not to come over! Smart goat! #goatsofinstagram #goatmatriarch #matriarch #smallholding #trossachs
This sight brought tears to my eyes this morning. Ria, the oldest goat here, usually has zero tolerance for the boys, except for the one day of the year when she comes into season. This is her with Sprog in the early morning sun. She is expecting kid/s (in 4 weeks), more than 2 months after the last of the others kidded. Sprog is the Dad and they seem to be hanging out together these last few days, which is really unusual. Sprogett has had an injured foot this week (I dug a stone out of it a few days ago) and Ria seems to be happy in his company. It's been a tough time here of late and moments like this are precious. #goatlove
When the whirligig hasn't arrived and you have an active outdoor family staying who are making the most of a great drying day! #ecodrier #ecolaundry #scottishweather #airbnb #bothy #oldcakehouse
Thought we were going to loose this little one yesterday, he was going downhill fast until I realised we were treating him for the wrong problem. Another trip to the vet, out of hours this time 😲, and a load of everything that could be thrown at him. Fingers crossed he stands a chance of recovery and is much stronger this morning. Not out of the woods yet though. Kicking myself for not working it out sooner, always happens when you've lots going on. The dog cage has had so many uses since buying it second hand 5 years ago. This way he is in the field and can see his Mum (and her, him) without him getting cold or trodden on by the other boisterous kids. He also has a hot water bottle in there!
Ice Cream Opening Date.
Judith and Ruth came to stay this weekend. They had a lovely holiday cottage to hang out in but the weather was incredible and the company in the field next door meant they were barely indoors. Loved how they got to know the family groups and the goats started communicating with them too. Gave me a rest from Rhianna repeatedly asking me to find her kid for her. Never known one to enjoy a game of "find the most hidden place to sleep spot!", much to its mother's distress! #spring #kidsatfoot #goatsunbathing #trossachs #lochlomondandtrossachsnationalpark #localfood #scottishfoodanddrink #goatsmilkicecream
